On November 11 (2015), I attended a symposium “Why we should study on Food” organized by UNISG (Italy), and GEN sr.l. (Italy) to say hello to food culture people including Yukako Saito. Because I discussed with her about the the meaning of Genuine and GEN in Japanese (源). It was three years ago, I guess.
After the symposium, I had a chance to talk young people about escaology, which is very close to UNISG in terms of the basic concept. Here is a summary of what I said to them.— As a medical scientist, I am involved in three Projects based on Human Health Science:
1) Bio-banking started from healthy individuals in order to do preemptive diagnosis especially stress/depression disease including maternity blues.
2) Regional project derived from MIE prefecture, which is focused on utilization of regional resources including young people. The name of the project is OKUISE bio-science center.
3) Cord blood banking for the children with developmental disability. This is not started yet due to financial issues.
As you know, all of these projects are closely related to “What you eat, what you are.” Here, I prefer to say what I drink, what I will be tomorrow morning. I hope no hungover.
Finally they understood why a medical scientist is interested in “Food.” Thank you all !!
